Main duties of the job
Trainee Sonographer
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Ultrasound Department at the Princess Anne Hospital in Southampton; we are looking for an enthusiastic Trainee Sonographers to join our busy, close knit and friendly imaging department. You will be working towards performing and reporting ultrasound examinations in accordance with Trust scanning protocols and to ensure that a high standard of patient care and quality of service is maintained. You will be training towards achieving a PgC in Obstetric Ultrasound. We also are fortunate to offer a further two part-time positions - in third trimester scanning to support our specialist antenatal clinics and patients on specialist pathways.

Qualifications, Knowledge And Experience
Essential criteria
- Able to complete an appropriate Postgraduate qualification in Medical Ultrasound
- Appropriate relevant Degree at 2:2 or equivalent.
- Registered Healthcare Professional on relevant part of NMC / HCPC register
- Relevant clinical courses Quality assurance supervision and practice
- Sound knowledge of all areas of Governance including H&S, COSHH, Manual Handling
- Experience of teaching, mentoring, and supporting colleagues training and development.
- To be able to respond appropriately to distressed patients and staff and distressing circumstances e.g. suspected physical abuse, major trauma, cancer and death.
- Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
- Leadership or management course or qualification.
- Knowledge of other departments works practice with which radiology has a significant interface.
- Appropriate post qualification experience in imaging
