Transport Supervisor

We are seeking a Transport Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day transport operations in Northampton, to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of goods.

Shift Pattern 4 on 4 off

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise a team of drivers and transport staff.
• Monitor and manage daily transport operations.
• Conduct daily debriefs with drivers and manage driver performance.
• Liaise with the warehouse and customer service teams.
• Support the Transport Manager in achieving operational KPIs.
• Ensure vehicle defects and maintenance issues are reported and resolved promptly.
• Assist in accident investigations, incident reporting, and the implementation of corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate records relating to driver hours, training, holidays, and sickness.
• Uphold & Promote health & safety standards.
• Support new driver inductions and ongoing driver training initiatives.
• Handle and resolve transport-related queries.
  
  

Skills & Experience:

Essential:

• Previous experience in a transport supervisory or similar role within a logistics/distribution environment.
• Strong understanding of transport legislation, drivers' hours, and tachograph regulations.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Proficient in using transport management systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
• Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure.
  
  

Desirable:

• CPC qualification desirable but not essential.
• Experience working on a shift pattern or in a 24/7 operation.
• Familiarity with route optimisation software and vehicle telematics.
