Tree Officer's to join our
Parks and Open Spaces team, a key part of
Neighbourhood Services.

Urban Forest Strategy by managing a diverse tree stock across the city. This is your chance to shape, protect, and expand a living legacy for future generations.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Inspect and assess the health of council-owned trees across parks, streets, schools, and woodlands
- Lead on the planning and delivery of arboricultural projects and planting schemes
- Provide expert guidance on tree preservation, planning applications, and legal matters
- Respond to public enquiries and emergencies with professionalism and technical know-how
- Work alongside contractors, developers, residents, and internal teams to protect and grow our urban forest
- Play a leading role in policy development, risk management, and the evolution of the city’s Urban Forest Strategy
- Contribute to education, awareness and community engagement through events, talks and campaigns

What We’re Looking For
We’re Seeking Someone With
- A recognised qualification in Arboriculture (minimum QCF Level 4)
- Strong practical knowledge of tree inspections, pests/diseases, legislation and risk assessment
- Experience managing large-scale tree stock and delivering high-quality arboricultural services
- Excellent communication and report writing skills – including the ability to explain complex technical matters clearly
- Strong organisational and supervisory abilities – managing contractors, budgets and performance
- A proactive, collaborative approach, ready to engage with residents, colleagues, developers and stakeholders
- A valid UK driving licence and a commitment to working flexibly, including out-of-hours cover when needed
