Commissioned by Leicestershire Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), Victim First is a free and confidential service available to all victims and witnesses of crime across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. The service supports victims and witnesses to be resilient and in doing so are less likely to be re-victimised; empowered to cope and recover from crime and anti-social behaviour by timely and effective victim-centred support from local services, families and communities.
Job Description
As a Triage Caseworker, you will be offering support to all victims and witnesses of crime that are referred into the service (this includes self-referrals). You will provide victims and witness with information about the service, and provide one-off support (emotional and/or practical). You will build and sustain high-quality relationships with victims through an offer of practical and emotional support that wins confidence and trust. You will work collaboratively with a wide range of agencies to ensure that there is a robust referral pathway in place. You will inform, consult and empower victims to feel supported and informed about their support journey.
You will be a passionate and experienced Caseworker who shows an understanding and commitment to the needs of victims and witnesses and how the Victim Service can effectively address the needs.
As a Triage Caseworker, Your Main Accountabilities Will Include:
To provide a service to all victims and witnesses as appropriate.
To manage a caseload of referred victims and witnesses.
To access and guide victims and witnesses through administrative information and advice package including the use of a web-based information tool to inform victims at each stage
To work as part of a Victim Service team to ensure the delivery of high-quality restorative justice
To provide information and explain the process and principles of restorative justice to identifiable victims of crime and offenders in the community and in custody.
To have a broad and competent understanding of criminal justice processes including the ability to advise and guide victims in such matters including victim witness statements, court proceedings and wider criminal justice system procedures.

Contract:
Fixed term - 12 months
Hours & work pattern: Full time, 37.5 hours per week.
Screening: Successful admission to post subject to enhanced DBS check, police vetting check, and employer Right To Work in the UK check. The post-holder must have right to work in the UK. Catch22 does not currently provide a licence to sponsor visas but please see this register to see those that do.
