Trust Junior Doctor in Orthopaedic

Contract: Fixed Term – 12 months
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trust Junior Doctor in Orthopaedic eq ST1-2 grade. We have positions available at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, fixed term for 12 months.
The post holder will work as part of a team, of surgeons led by Consultants. This will include ward work ward, clinic and in the operating theatre.
Duties are ward based, caring for patient across all sub-specialities of orthopaedic which includes Sarcoma, Spinal, Rehabilitation. Daily support to the orthopaedic teams carrying out the daily ward rounds, patient admissions, orthopaedic POAC out-patient clinics, and opportunities for operating theatre sessions.
The post holder will be required to work a duty emergency bleep rota. The current rota is a 1:12 full shift, of core hours, late shift and nights over days.
Applicants must hold a full GMC registration. Applicants must hold a valid ALS or ILS certificate.
This post is a vacant 12 month fixed term contract. The post holder will work as part of a team with surgeons led by consultants. The duties will be to cover ward duties for sub-specialities of orthopaedic including Bone Infection Unit, Rehabilitation and Spinal. Duties include carrying out the daily ward rounds, patient admissions, orthopaedic POAC out-patient clinics, with opportunities to assist operating theatre sessions.

There is a contractual obligation on employers to monitor working hours through robust local monitoring arrangements supported by national guidance, and on individual doctors to co-operate with those monitoring arrangements.
The Junior Doctor will be required to work a duty rota. The current rota is a 1:12 full shift F2/CT/IMT/GPvts tier rota. The post holder will work alongside the foundation-tier doctors, SpR3-8 on the orthopaedic wards and be responsible for sharing the ward workload. The appointee will need to hold a valid ALS certificate from the start of their contract.
It must be accepted that occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances may occur and it may be necessary to change the on-call requirements.
