Tunnels and underground structures form an increasingly important part of modern-day infrastructure. This infrastructure provides economic, societal, and environmental benefits through the facilitation of the efficient and rapid movement of people below-ground. This may be in mass transit systems, high-speed rail lines or in highway tunnels.
As a tunnel ventilation engineer, you will design and analyse tunnel ventilation systems for both normal and emergency operations. You will also assess the related elements such as fire and life safety systems following client specifications and worldwide standards. You will work on a range of underground facilities and tunnels, including metro systems, railway stations, road tunnels, cable tunnels and more.
Your role
- Planning, designing and installing ventilation systems for tunnel projects.
