Description
Grade: Teaching scale
Full time. Permanent. (working pattern to be negotiated – there will be work during school holidays)
Bromley is proud of the improving outcomes for looked-after children and the support we provide for all our vulnerable children. The authority takes its corporate parenting responsibilities seriously, providing challenge and support in equal measures to its children, schools, carers and other professionals.
The Virtual School plays a central role in securing the future of children in care, and all our vulnerable children, holding high ambition for all our young people. Central to our work is the mantra “would this be good enough for your child”. Using this as a starting point we work hard to ensure all our young people are in the best possible education provision to meet their needs and, throughout their educational journey, to enable them to meet their potential.
We are looking for an experienced teacher who is committed to supporting our most vulnerable young people who need temporary education provision because of a placement move, or because they need respite from their current school or need support to transition back into a school. We have a brand new classroom being set up for this work where this can take place. However, you will be flexible in your approach and able to work in a range of settings and with a range of young people and professionals. You will have a strong commitment to trauma informed and inclusive practice.
You will have a broad experience of working with children across the age ranges, but particularly of secondary as well as extensive knowledge of supporting children with SEND. You will have a sound understanding of attachment and trauma, the SEND code of practice and some knowledge of the children’s act and related guidance.
Closing date: Wednesday 3 rd September 2025
