Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Compliance Officer to take a senior role in our UK Compliance function. You will be responsible for ensuring that our products, services, and operations comply with all relevant UK laws and regulations, with a primary focus on FCA AML/CTF programme requirements.
This position requires advanced knowledge of UK anti‑money laundering and counter‑terrorist financing regulations, as well as strong understanding of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (POCA), Money Laundering Regulations 2017 (MLRs), FCA Handbook requirements, and associated regulatory expectations.
You will also be expected to contribute to our global compliance framework, ensuring alignment with best practice standards and supporting cross‑border compliance initiatives. Minimum, 5 years in a senior or management compliance role.
Responsibilities Are As Follows
- Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure our products and services comply with FCA rules and other UK AML/CTF requirements.
- Keep up to date with changes to UK regulations, FCA guidance, and JMLSG provisions.
- Lead the implementation of new regulatory requirements into business operations.
- Maintain all required UK regulatory permissions and registrations.
- Prepare and submit applications, notifications, and documentation to the FCA and other relevant UK authorities.
- Act as a subject‑matter expert on the UK AML/CTF regulatory framework.
- Maintain and update the UK AML policy in line with enterprise standards.
- Serve as the main point of contact with the FCA, National Crime Agency (NCA), and other UK authorities.
- Manage all regulatory requests and responses, including handling of SARs and information notices.
- Produce regular management information (MI) reports for the Senior Executive Team and the Board.
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of all required UK regulatory reports.
- Manage internal and external AML/CTF audits in the UK.
- Ensure compliance procedures, staff training, and documentation meet FCA standards.
- Provide guidance to compliance staff working on UK matters.
- Collaborate with global compliance teams to ensure UK requirements are embedded in group policies.
Requirements
- 5-7 years’ experience in a senior or management compliance role at a UK-based fintech or financial institution.
- Experience with mentoring, training and managing compliance staff and driving forward operational improvements;
- Direct experience and familiarity with regulatory engagement;
- Comprehensive knowledge of UK regulatory environment;
- Excellent analytical, research, verbal and written communication skills;
- Adaptability to global operational needs and ability to work in a rapidly changing business and regulatory environment.
- Ability to thrive as part of a team and be an empowering, constructive and considerate colleague;
- Data and analytical skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the ability to perform data analysis;
- Ability to learn new technologies and systems;
- CAMS certification (or equivalent) is a plus;
