DP World is leading the way in sustainable transport by implementing new electric vehicle (EV) road freight and port drayage operations in the UK, focusing on Southampton and London Gateway ports. This role will lead the management and implementation of EV road freight operations as part of Project Leaf, aiming to grow our pure EV road freight product to 1,000 trucks by 2030. You will work closely with road operations, logistics, procurement, commercial, and sustainability teams to deliver innovative and environmentally friendly freight solutions.
Please note: This role will require regular travel to both Southampton and Stanford-le-Hope ports to support operational delivery and stakeholder engagement.

DP World is leading the way in sustainable transport by implementing new electric vehicle (EV) road freight and port drayage operations in the UK, focusing on Southampton and London Gateway ports. This role will lead the management and implementation of EV road freight operations as part of Project Leaf, aiming to grow our pure EV road freight product to 1,000 trucks by 2030. You will work closely with road operations, logistics, procurement, commercial, and sustainability teams to deliver innovative and environmentally friendly freight solutions.

How Will You Contribute
- Manage the development and implementation of new EV road freight operations across the UK.
- Act as the operations license manager, ensuring all road freight operational requirements are met.
- Oversee an annual budget of approximately $15 million covering vehicles, personnel, and infrastructure.
- Manage a fleet of around 50–70 electric trucks and trailers.
- Support the development of a new, pure EV road freight offer delivering services such as Port drayage.
- Collaborate with real estate teams to identify suitable charging and parking locations for EV trucks.
- Work with procurement to select the appropriate vehicle types for current and future freight services.
- Connect and support projects within European road freight, aligning multiple stakeholders to deliver EV solutions in the UK.
- Work closely with customers to ensure the successful delivery of contracted products.
- Drive the transformation of road operations with an “EV first” mindset, supporting DP World’s sustainability goals.
- Valid road freight operations license and holder of an international CPC in road transport.
- Proven knowledge and experience of UK road freight and operations.
- Experience operating a Transport Operator Licence aligned with business ambitions.
- Understanding and experience in implementing EV truck solutions during growth and transition phases.
- Knowledge of OEM strategies for electric road freight products.
- Passion for sustainability, with understanding of corporate environmental strategies and climate change issues.
- Familiarity with greenhouse gas accounting and ESG reporting protocols.
- Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience leading teams and developing talent.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities calmly and efficiently.
- Skill in integrating sustainability knowledge into broader business topics.
