Role Summary


We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Underwriting Assistant to support our Direct & Facultative (D&F) underwriting team. This role is integral to ensuring the smooth operation of underwriting processes, maintaining data accuracy, and delivering excellent service to brokers and internal stakeholders. This role will support the RIPPL framework and drive improvements in data quality, while maintaining a focus on underwriting training and capability development.


Role Accountabilities

  • Assist underwriters with the preparation, processing, and administration of D&F submissions, quotes, and binders.
  • Maintain accurate records in underwriting systems, ensuring timely data entry and updates.
  • Liaise with brokers and clients to obtain necessary documentation and respond to queries.
  • Support the coordination of internal compliance and audit requirements.
  • Generate reports and summaries to support underwriting decisions and portfolio management.
  • Monitor renewal lists and assist in the preparation of renewal documentation.
  • Collaborate with other departments including claims, finance, and operations to ensure seamless workflow.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives and support system enhancements.
  • Support the RIPPL framework and drive improvements in data quality.
  • Underwriter training and capability development.
  • Any additional requirements assigned.


Role Requirements

  • Previous experience in an underwriting support role, ideally within D&F or commercial insurance.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with underwriting systems (e.g. Genius, Salesforce, or similar).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to work.


Skills and Abilities

  • Educated to A-Level standard or equivalent; a degree in a relevant field is advantageous.
  • Progress towards professional insurance qualifications (e.g. CII) is desirable.
