Underwriting Specialist

About the Role:

We’re looking for a detail-oriented and customer-focused Underwriting Specialist to join our Sales Operations team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for assessing and processing mortgage applications in line with our lending policy and risk appetite, ensuring a smooth and efficient customer journey.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess Decision in Principles (DIPs) and mortgage applications for compliance with lending criteria.
• Liaise with brokers, distributors, and customers to ensure all required documentation is received and processed.
• Deliver excellent customer service and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Refer applications outside standard policy to mandate holders with a clear business rationale.
• Ensure all activity complies with regulatory standards and internal policies.
• Manage your case pipeline effectively and meet agreed SLAs and quality metrics.

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience in mortgage lending or underwriting (specialist lending experience is a plus).
• Strong customer service skills and a passion for delivering great outcomes.
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks including FCA, TCF, and MCOB.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with DPR systems.
• CEMAP qualification desirable.
