Role: Unit Manager – HR
Location: London, UK
We are seeking an experienced and proactive
HR Manager to lead and support HR functions in the UK. This role plays a key part in shaping and delivering people strategies that align with business objectives, while fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture. The ideal candidate will bring strong generalist HR expertise across the employee lifecycle, with a solid understanding of UK employment practices and a passion for driving employee engagement, wellbeing, and organisational effectiveness. A sound knowledge of the ACAS Code of Practice is essential, ensuring fair and consistent handling of workplace matters in line with best practice and legal compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a strategic HR partner to business unit and regional leadership, supporting the development and execution of people strategies that align with organisational goals and enhance business performance.
- Deliver comprehensive HR generalist support across the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, training, compensation & benefits, and policy implementation.
- Provide expert guidance on HR policies, procedures, and best practices, ensuring consistency and compliance with UK employment legislation.
- Lead initiatives to foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture, driving employee engagement, wellbeing, and retention through tailored programmes and localised solutions.
- Manage and resolve employee relations issues as needed, including performance concerns, disciplinary matters, grievances, and investigations, ensuring fair and legally compliant outcomes.
- Monitor changes in employment law and regulatory requirements, proactively updating internal policies and advising stakeholders to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Contribute to HR reporting, audits, and data analysis to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Partner with cross-functional teams including Legal, Compliance, and Payroll to ensure seamless HR service delivery and risk mitigation.
Skills Required
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in human resources, Business Management, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- CIPD at least level 5 Qualified
- 10+ years of HR experience in the UK, preferably in a multinational or matrix organization, with demonstrated strength in core HR skills, strategic & business partnering, culture & engagement, employee relations, UK labour law, and HR compliance.
- Experience in managing sensitive employee matters with discretion, fairness, empathy and legal soundness.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and partner with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, especially in high-pressure or complex situations.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, adapt quickly to change, and lead with empathy and confidence in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
