Description

Methods is currently looking for a Senior User Researcher on a contract basis.


Client: Government Department

12 months contract

On site 3 days per week either Leeds, Manchester or Newcastle

Day rate: £500pd inside IR35 – maximum


User Research:

  1. Recruit and Engage Diverse Participants
  2. Identify and involve users with a range of care needs and digital confidence levels to ensure inclusive insights.
  3. Conduct Contextual and Task-Based Research
  4. Observe users interacting with PoC prototypes to uncover usability issues and unmet needs.
  5. Synthesize and Share Findings Rapidly
  6. Produce actionable insights in short cycles to inform iterative design and delivery decisions.
  7. Validate Assumptions and Hypotheses
  8. Test key service assumptions (e.g. simplified eligibility flows) with real users to reduce risk.
  9. Support Continuous Discovery
  10. Embed research into agile ceremonies and ensure findings are visible and used by the whole team.


Tools: MS teams, forms, lucidchart, lookback/dovetail, UR library, gov.uk design systems


Skills: Qualitative research, usability testing, inclusive research, synthesis and reporting


Other: Experience working at an Enterprise level, strong experience in building accessible, secure digital services, ability to work in agile, cross-functional teams, comfortable working with policy, design, and data colleagues to shape end-to-end services, experience in GDS service assessment preferable, strong communication and influencing skills
