The Role
Are you an experienced account manager with a technical background and a passion for delivering outstanding service? ALS Laboratories looking for a highly organised and proactive
Utility Account Manager to join our team, supporting our key clients,
DCWW and IWNL.
Based in Coventry or Wakefield, you’ll play a pivotal role in managing client relationships, driving performance, and ensuring the smooth flow of information between the laboratory and the customer. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a collaborative, fast-paced environment where your expertise will directly contribute to maintaining and improving service excellence.
Hours Per Week: 37
Days Per Week: Monday – Friday (09:00 – 17:00)
Contract: Full Time & Fixed Term (maternity cover for 18 months)
Salary: £27,694 - £32,270 per annum

The day to day
- Serve as the primary point of contact for DCWW and IWNL, ensuring seamless communication and timely updates on workflow, issues, results, and queries.
- Manage invoicing, billing and forecasting activities for the client.
- Collate and present key performance data, supporting SLA monitoring and contractual compliance.
- Lead regular client review meetings, sharing performance and financial insights.
- Handle administrative and data management tasks linked to urgent business needs.
- Liaise regularly with Operations and Logistics teams across ALS to ensure contract obligations are met.
- Register and track customer samples using ALS IT systems.
- Work with the client to identify and implement improvements, ensuring service excellence.
- Oversee both Helpdesk contents, handle progress updates and resolve queries effectively.
- Approve and manage result amendments when required.
- Participate in the Coventry Duty Manager Rota.
- Carry out ad hoc duties in support of wider business objectives.
The Essentials
- A strong understanding of laboratory operations, ideally with significant hands-on experience.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and customer service skills.
- Proven ability to prioritise and manage workload independently, with a high level of attention to detail.
- Effective team player with a client-focused mindset.
- Skilled in relationship management, both internally and externally.
- Experience with LIMS systems, QUASAR, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- HND or higher in a technical subject.
- Confident in report writing and delivering presentations.
- Previous management experience is desirable.
- A background in technical operations would be an advantage.
