Exciting Opportunity: Clinical Nurse Specialist – Vascular Access

Join our dynamic Vascular Access Team as a Clinical Nurse Specialist, based at Wexham Park. This role offers a Band 6 development opportunity for those looking to advance their career, or a Band 7 position for experienced professionals.
As part of the only 7-day vascular access service in the UK, you will provide expert vascular access care to both inpatients and outpatients, working collaboratively within the wider IVAS team.
Main duties of the job
To Support and work in conjunction with the IVAS team in the delivery of the vascular access service, working under the supervision of the vascular access senior clinical nurse specialists .
The aim of this post is to provide inpatients and outpatients with bespoke vascular access including placing PICCs, ultrasound guided cannula and midlines to support vessel health and deliver safe IV therapy.
The post holder will work independently under the direction of the band 7 CNS team and will report to the IVAS matron. They will have regular clinical supervision and work towards becoming a band 7 CNS in vascular access.
The post holder will also support the band 3 vascular access technician in the delivery of the difficult IV access service and undertake regular audits and deliver training to ward staff. They will support the difficult IV access pathway with ultrasound guided cannulation, midline insertion and PICC insertion for inpatients and outpatients

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NMC Registered 1st Level Nurse Registered nurse
- Teaching, assessing and mentorship qualification with experience in teaching individuals from a range of disciplines including nursing, medicine
Desirable criteria
Experience
Essential criteria
- Substantial experience at Band 6 or 7, less experience considered if going for the Band 6 development role
- Experience of audit/data collection
- Experience of working with IV therapy and vascular access is some form
Desirable criteria
- Previously or currently presented information to national meetings
Skills & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Excellent interpersonal skills and time management
- Clinical skills to include - Vascular Access - Venepuncture - Cannulation - All aspects of IV therapy administration - Midlines Insertion - PICC Line Insertion - Ultrasound Guided cannulation - Immediate life Support
- Computer Literacy skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office package including Word, Publisher, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to work independently and as a member of multidisciplinary team
