Position Summary

The role sits within the Corporate Tax and VAT team, within the wider Tax and Financial Control team. You will be part of a supportive and collaborative team working to ensure that the Samsung Electronics business continues to be a compliant and responsible tax payer.
Role And Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities
- Prepare the VAT returns for the UK and Irish VAT registrations.
- Work with external advisers to manage the VAT return review process, ensuring adherence to both internal and statutory deadlines.
- Prepare the Intrastat returns for the Irish VAT registration.
- Manage queries from marketing teams in relation to invoice approvals, including reviewing the VAT treatment of marketing spend.
- Support the wider team with reconciliation of the VAT creditor account for the UK and Ireland.
- Assist with ensuring compliance with HMRC’s GfC8 (Guidelines for Compliance – VAT).
- Identify ways to improve efficiency, to enhance and streamline existing processes, and assist with implementing these changes.
- Assist with ad-hoc projects as required.

Soft skills - i.e. personal attributes:
- Ability to build relationships across the business to support teams with a variety of business issues.
- Ability to meet deadlines and to complete assignments within a reasonable timeframe.
- Must be able to work without close supervision.
Hard skills/experience required:
- Strong excel skills required.
- Indirect tax experience and understanding of accountancy for VAT purposes would be beneficial, but not essential.
What does success look like?
- Assisting with managing the VAT compliance obligations of SEUK.
- Assisting with identifying opportunities and implementing changes in order to reduce VAT risk across SEUK.

There will be two stages of interview, and both will be competency based.
