VAT Director

JSS Tax are hiring for a experienced and strategic VAT / Indirect Tax Director for a leading multinational manufacturing business.

This newly created role will be responsible for overseeing all VAT and indirect tax matters across all group companies, covering multiple jurisdictions.

The VAT Director will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing a cohesive global VAT strategy, ensuring compliance, managing risk, and identifying opportunities for optimization and efficiency across the group's diverse operations.

The role is based from their office in the Thames Valley, supporting hybrid working arrangements.

The position comes with a salary of circa £120,000 - £150,000 plus bonus and benefits package.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy & Leadership

• Develop and implement a global VAT and indirect tax strategy aligned with the group’s business objectives and growth plans.
• Provide strategic guidance and thought leadership on indirect tax matters to senior management and stakeholders across the business.
• Build and lead a centralized VAT function, including oversight of regional indirect tax leads, advisors, and shared service centres.

Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure full compliance with VAT and indirect tax obligations in all jurisdictions where the group operates.
• Monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on the group; proactively manage compliance risks.
• Oversee the preparation, review, and timely submission of VAT returns and other indirect tax filings globally.

Advisory & Business Support

• Advise business units on VAT treatment of complex and cross-border transactions, including supply chain structuring, intercompany transactions, and M&A.
• Support new market entry and product launches from an indirect tax perspective.
• Provide technical guidance and training to internal stakeholders on VAT-related matters.

The company are looking for an experienced VAT / Indirect Tax specialist with a track record at a senior level, comfortable working with international multisite companies, with strong commercial ability and stakeholder management skills.
