Join Our Team at Earlswood
At Earlswood Veterinary, we’re proud to be an RCVS-accredited general and referral Hospital Standards practice, and we’re looking for a well-rounded GP Veterinary Surgeon to join our warm and supportive team in Belfast.
A Practice Built for Pets and People
Our hospital is designed with comfort and efficiency in mind. We have a spacious reception area with separate cat and dog waiting spaces, four consult rooms, three theatres supported by two prep areas, and a well-stocked dispensary that adjoins the consult rooms for ease. We also offer separate wards for cats and dogs, a designated isolation area, a vet office for admin time, and two cosy staff spaces where the team can recharge.
What Your Days Will Look Like
Your role will encompass every elements of our 1st opinion offer. Your role will lean slightly towards consultations, though we’re happy to accommodate your individual interests. Routine surgeries such as spays, castrates, lump removals, and dentals will be part of your caseload. As the leading referral practice in Northern Ireland, we see an incredible variety of cases, giving you opportunities to support the referral team and broaden your experience.
State-of-the-Art Facilities
Our practice is equipped to deliver top-quality care. Facilities include x-ray, an on-site 16-slice CT scanner, visiting high-field MRI, ultrasound, arthroscopy, fluoroscopy, endoscopy, laparoscopy, dental x-ray, and a full in-house laboratory. We’re also proud to offer rehabilitation services, including a hydrotherapy treadmill.
A Skilled and Supportive Team
You’ll be joining a dedicated team of 7vets, 22 RVNs, and 4support staff. Our nurses are highly referral-focused, with expertise in patient management, blood work, and surgical support. Within the veterinary team, we have certificate holders in internal medicine, small animal surgery, ophthalmology, and laparoscopy, with others currently working towards further qualifications. We also benefit from a visiting cardiology specialist.
Making a Difference Beyond the Clinic
Community is at the heart of what we do, and we’re proud to engage locally, from visiting primary schools to supporting animal welfare initiatives.
Your Work-Life Balance
We’re looking for someone to work 25 hours per week across 2–2.5 days, with one in four weekends providing Saturday and Sunday morning cover. Shifts range from 8 to 10 hours, starting from 8:15am and finishing no later than 7:30pm. With Vets Now on site, there’s no requirement for out-of-hours work, giving you time back for life outside practice. Salary up to £52,000 DOE FTE.
