Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Vision Systems Engineer to design, develop, and implement advanced machine vision solutions from concept to completion. This role will be critical in delivering robust and reliable inspection and guidance systems for our diverse projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vision System Design & Development: Lead the end-to-end design and development of complex machine vision systems from a clean sheet, including conceptualization, optical component selection, lighting design, camera integration, and software development.
- Software Development: Develop, program, and debug vision applications primarily using Cognex VisionPro and Cognex In-Sight suites.
- Optical & Lighting Design: Design and optimize optical setups, including camera lenses, lighting techniques (e.g., bright field, dark field, diffuse, coaxial, structured light), and filters to ensure optimal image acquisition for inspection and measurement tasks.
- Automation Integration: Seamlessly integrate vision systems with industrial automation platforms, including Allen-Bradley (Rockwell Automation) and other programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and robotic systems. Develop and troubleshoot communication protocols between vision systems and automation equipment.
- Testing & Validation: Conduct comprehensive testing, calibration, and validation of vision systems to ensure performance, accuracy, and reliability meet stringent project requirements.
- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, user manuals, test plans, and validation reports.
- Problem Solving: Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to vision system performance, hardware, and software.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of emerging machine vision technologies, tools, and best practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in machine vision system development from a clean sheet, encompassing design, optical and lighting selection, and integration.
- Expert proficiency with Cognex VisionPro and In-Sight suites is essential, with a proven ability to develop complex applications.
- Strong general knowledge of vision systems and their application.
- Demonstrated experience in designing optical lighting solutions for various inspection challenges.
- Proven ability to integrate vision systems with Allen-Bradley (Rockwell Automation) PLCs and other industrial control systems.
- Strong understanding of industrial automation principles and practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related technical field is preferred.
