About The Role

The Surgical Assessment Unit is based on Gate 36 at Pinderfields. We are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly and dynamic person to join our ward clerk team on a 30 hours per week vacancy. The post involves working both long days and night shifts including weekends and bank holidays. The Surgical assessment unit provides a 24 hour service to surgical patients and includes an Advanced Clinical Practitioner Same Day Emergency Care Team. The Surgical Assessment Unit comprises of assessment beds and also same day emergency care for other surgical specialities.

The unit is high complexity, seeing a large amount of patients from various admission routes into our bed base. We admit all surgical specialities for the trust

Main duties

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be a great team player. They will be responsible for the provision of administrative support on the Surgical Assessment Unit. They will be responsible for answering the telephone, meeting and greeting patients, relatives and visitors to the unit. The successful candidate will be able to use all of the trust digital systems (training will be provided). The role covers a 24 hour rotation of long days and nights including weekends and bank holidays.

Key Requirements

The successful candidate will be computer literate, have excellent communication skills and be a great team player. They will be responsible for the provision of administrative support on the Surgical Assessment Unit. They will be responsible for answering the telephone, meeting and greeting patients, relatives and visitors to the unit. They will be resourceful, positive and innovative as a person with strong organisational skills, the ability to prioritise tasks, maintain confidentiality and remain calm under pressure.
