We are recruiting a Band 7 Ward manager for Avalon Ward at Springfield Hospital. If you are a forward-thinking experienced band 6/7 nurse looking to become an expert within a leading adults inpatient eating disorder service, this is an exciting opportunity to consider.

The post will enhance your skills in leadership, management, specialist assessment of mental health and physical health needs, therapeutic engagement, crisis management and joint working with multiple agencies/services. We are looking for someone who is clinically competent with the appropriate skills to lead a diverse and experienced team.

You will attend the Ward managers development day and can enrol on the trust’s leadership courses.
As a Ward manager for Avalon ward, you will develop a thorough understanding of the adults inpatient eating disorder model, you will take a lead in developing policies and protocols. You will be responsible for recruitment, supervision, PADR and monitor its effectiveness. You will ensure care delivered is reflective of evidence-based practice and research within the framework of clinical governance. You will manage complaints, compliments and support the team with being always ready for CQC. You be present, accessible, and supportive. You will celebrate and acknowledge achievements and support with maintaining high levels of morale within the team.
Avalon ward is 18 bedded unit for adults suffering with moderate to severe eating disorders, often at a very low weight and there is a high level of co-morbidity with conditions. We are a recovery focused team and our aim is to discharge our patients’ safely. We are a large hard-working team made up of nurses, nursing associates, healthcare assistants, psychiatrist, dieticians, occupational therapists, social workers, activity coordinators and psychologists.

Springfield University Hospital, Tooting
Our largest, 19-ward site is in Springfield Village, created following our £150m investment into two new world class mental health facilities. A 32-acre public park, shops and cafes are coming soon. Close to shops, cafes and Tooting Bec on the Northern Line plus Earlsfield and Tooting rail stations and bus routes.
