We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Nursing leader to join the Trauma and Orthopaedic Care Group. The Neck of Femur Unit is a 24 bedded unit specialising in the care of patients with hip fractures. The unit employs a multidisciplinary team compromising of orthopaedic surgeons, geriatricians, anaesthetists, specialist nurses and therapists. This collaborative approach ensures comprehensive care from admission through rehabilitation. The role of the Ward Manager is fundamental to lead safe, effective and compassionate care to our patients.
The Trauma and Orthopaedic Care Group provides comprehensive major trauma, orthopaedic trauma and elective orthopaedic service to the city of Liverpool.

The successful candidate would report directly to the Matron and would be an integral part of the Ward Manager team in the Care Group. You will be encouraged and empowered to lead your team and have ownership of the ward area with the support of the senior nursing team and wider MDT.
If you are an experienced Ward Manager looking for a change or a Band 6 with leadership experience then we would welcome your application. Having knowledge of Trauma and Orthopaedics, with understanding of complexities of the patient group would be an advantage but not essential.
Provide clinical nursing leadership to the ward team to ensure the ward is safe, working effectively and is well-led for our patients. Being professionally accountable to the Matron, Head of Nursing and Director of Nursing.
Coordinating the day to day running of the ward and overseeing there is effective communication between healthcare staff, patients and their loved ones. Working collaboratively with members of the MDT to ensure safe systems and processes are in place to support excellent care delivery to patients.
Supporting and developing staff to ensure the ward team are highly skilled, safe and competent in their roles. Overseeing the mandatory and role specific training compliance of your ward is meeting the Trust's expected standards.
Ensure there are good governance processes in place on the ward.
Providing visible leadership and demonstrating excellent communication skills to manage and resolve issues locally is essential.
Ensuring there are regular Safety and Governance meetings on the ward involving all disciplines in the MDT.
The role involves being responsive to issues, incidents and complaints and importantly being proactive and innovative to prevent these in the first place.
