Job Overview

Come and work with the friendly 25A team! We are the major trauma ward for the South West. We look after a range of trauma patients including Orthopaedic, general surgery and plastics.

Main duties of the job

  • To deal with external/internal enquiries in a courteous and efficient manner
  • To be aware of patient confidentiality at all times
  • To carry out the filing of medical notes
  • To carry out the photocopying of case notes when required
  • To carry out the scanning of case notes when required
  • To deal with the any phone enquiries when required
  • To ensure attendance at mandatory training sessions, involvement in appraisals and personal development plans and adherence to Trust policies
  • To work under standard operating procedures (SOP’S)
  • To carry out admin work in a ward environment; including, filing, open post, updating spreadsheets with patients information, booking transport and follow up appointments.
  • Being the first friendly face visitors see when arriving on the ward.
  • Communicating with the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Previous experience of working with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook is a must, CareFlow experience will be an advantage although training will be provided.
  • Being an extremely busy department, the ability to work under pressure and be able to prioritise changing workloads is absolutely essential for this role.

You will be located on 25A, a busy major trauma ward within the Brunel Building at Southmead Hospital.

Person specification

Essential criteria

  • GCSE in Maths and English
  • Keyboard skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to develop good working relationships

Desirable criteria

  • Experience within NHS or similar setting
