Job Overview
**INTERNAL VACANCY**
An exciting opportunity for a permanent position has arisen for a passionate Senior Nurse to work within the Gynaecology team.
This post will offer the successful candidate excellent personal and professional development opportunities in management and leadership. As well as being a proactive, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual you will need to demonstrate excellent communication and prioritisation skills. A dedication to working collaboratively and sharing your clinical expertise is essential.
You will need to be able to lead by example, motivating and demonstrating crucial team player involvement and promoting excellent communication skills, within the nursing team. You will also be expected to deputise for the Ward Manager in their absence.
You will need to demonstrate genuine compassion about the nursing role and be highly driven to work to support our patients and their families.
The post holder will be expected to work a combination of both day and night shifts, including weekends alternating between working on the ward and in GATU.
Main duties of the job
Gynaecology services consists of a 12 bedded ward, a Gynaecology Assessment and Treatment Unit (GATU), Early Pregnancy Unit (EPAS) and a cross site Outpatients Unit.

Main duties of the job
- To function as a competent clinical practitioner within their designated clinical area.
- To deliver direct patient care whilst, co-ordinating and overseeing nursing/theatre practice.
- To be responsible for ensuring the delivery of clinical activities during their span of duty.
- To ensure that there is efficient and effective utilisation of resources to deliver optimum quality care to their client group.
- To deputise for the ward/ department manager in his / her absence, driving forward evidence-based practice and taking responsibility for the supervision of staff and the policies and practices that operate within their clinical area.
- To work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.
