We are currently seeking to recruit a
Warehouse Logistics Group Leader, based at our Windmill Lane site operating a 5 days onsite working model. The successful candidate will optimise material movements on site using appropriate systems including: Delivery, put away, stock management and effective management of the associated systemic housekeeping. Lead the warehouse team to ensure all duties are completed on time in full. Ensure the Site yard is managed proficiently and safely.

Leadership
- Proactively support the creation of the Supply Chain strategic plan which includes the priority areas of continuous improvement focus.
- Deploy this plan by delivering the key objectives for which you are responsible, maintaining a key focus on the metrics of the area and
- the delivery of deadlines, while addressing the impacts of change on team members.
- Ensure that each Team Leader understands their role in delivering the objectives and make any appropriate adjustments identified as
- part of the feedback and communication loop.
People
- Lead the Logistics team and ensure that team members are engaged to create a positive and stable environment in which they can develop and flourish. Promote cross functional involvement to optimise material flow across the site.
- Build team capability by training, coaching and by using the OPEX tools, systems and standards to guide.
- Focus on priority problem solving activity and ensure that there is clear measurement of performance and alignment with the goals of the organisation. Highlight the successes to build pride and positively motivate.
- Recruit and select capable team members and induct into our organisation.
- Manage on-going performance through 1:1s and My Success and encourage regular feedback.
- Identify and create a pipeline of talent who may be capable of higher performance or career progression.
- Build trust through the effective use of management tools and processes and encourage team members to speak freely.
- Manage grievance and disciplinary issues as required with the necessary support from HR.
- Encourage the team to participate in business improvement activities such as Our Voice, and to get involved in creating solutions to common problems.
Excellent Results
- Effectively manage projects identified in the logistics master schedule or the site goals and gap up plans.
- Use appropriate OPEX tools to eliminate bottlenecks or the loss of services to manufacture / customers. Ensure that all improvements to new or modified standards are sustainable.
- Ensure that stock is maintained in the correct condition, transported carefully and counted routinely using the stock management.
- Reconcile stock positions on a routine basis to ensure accurate financial reporting can be conducted.
- Use good manufacturing practices (GMP). Escalate any major quality concerns particularly on incoming materials.
- Monitor all stock movements and address escalations promptly.
- Track and optimise labour, pick rate, storage space utilisation, pallet fill, load fill, transportation cost, claims, waste, obsolescence and impacts to customer service level.
Standard Work & Problem Solving
- Plan & execute all logistic team activities in line with the site Demand, Production, Supply & Special Event requirements
- Communicate proactively with key stakeholders including Customers, Suppliers, Third Party Logistic Providers, Central Teams and Site
- Confirm that the Logistics managed areas are operating to standard and audit ready across safety, quality, environmental, service and asset management. Promptly investigate the root cause of any deviations and implement the necessary corrective measures to sustain.
- Improve service delivery by identifying gaps in the system where there are missing or inadequate standards and make the necessary corrections to these. This could be in the form of improvements to Work Patterns, Pick rates, SOP’s, Material Flow, Storage Locations, Stock Rules, Replenishment Protocols, Pallet Specifications, 5S Standards, Autonomous Maintenance (e.g. Forklift & facility checks) or other.
- Coach the team leaders on the application of appropriate OPEX tools.
- Analyse data to identify trends and gaps in our process to focus our resource on solving the priority problems.
- Use 8 step problem solving methodology or other OPEX tools to involve team members in continuous improvement activity.
- Ensure area KPIs are updated and displayed to standard. Monitor CCC board and progress the closure of open issues
Essential Criteria
- Proven work experience managing Despatch, Goods Inwards in fast paced environments
- Expertise in Warehouse procedures and best practices
- Strong knowledge of Warehouse/Despatch Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Proficient written, numerical, and verbal skills in the English language
- Effective communication skills and the ability to influence.
- Strong analytical & problem-solving skills. The ability to create and implement standards.
- Natural coaching ability.
- Experience in Logistics
Desirable Criteria
- Experience in a FMCG Industry.
- Understanding of safety, quality, environmental and asset management systems
- Experience in Continuous Improvement / OPEX
