We’re currently seeking a Waste Operative to join our dedicated team in London. This is a great opportunity to be part of a professional and supportive environment where your hard work is valued and your contribution makes a real impact every day.
Hours of Work: 40 Hours, Monday to Friday.
As a Waste Operative you will be responsible for transporting, storing, and safely disposing of waste and recycling materials at the Francis Crick Institute site. Reporting into the Supervisor, working alongside 2 other porters, you will play a key part in helping our client achieve their environmental objectives.
Waste Operative Requirements
- Essential: Previous experience as waste operative or environmental services role.
- A can-do attitude and a willingness to undertake manual tasks is essential
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to respond to emails and service related enquiries from their respective floors
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations pertinent to waste management.
- The site is a high security building; successful applicants will be security screened
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transporting waste containers to designated refuse locations
- Operating on-site compaction equipment to lift and load waste containers
- Ensuring recycling and non-recycling waste items are segregated and stored in accordance to environmental legislation
- Routinely Inspecting waste containers to monitor contamination levels and report incidents to the line manager
- Overseeing the collection and disposal of waste on-site
- Ensuring the cleanliness of the refuse area is maintained to a high standard at all times
- Monitoring the condition of on-site waste equipment, escalating any defects to senior management
- Working in partnership with the on-site service partners to address any waste related issues
- High level of interaction with site users (scientist, admin staff, etc.). Provide waste training / advice to Occupiers to assist them in increasing recycling performance
