We’re proud to be delivering critical work at Hinkley Point C (HPC), the UK’s flagship nuclear power project. As part of our ongoing success, we’re looking for a technically minded and detail-focused Welding Engineer – Technical Co-ordinator to join our Welding and QA/QC team. If you're someone who thrives on precision, loves working with data and systems, and wants to be part of something truly transformational, then this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Welding Engineer – Technical Co-ordinator, you’ll be the engine behind our WeldEye Welding Management System — a critical digital tool used to manage and control welding activities across the HPC project. You'll ensure our data, records, and processes align with stringent nuclear standards, supporting the successful delivery of high-quality, traceable welding.
WeldEye System & Data Management
- You’ll operate and administer the WeldEye Welding Quality Management System on-site.
- You’ll transfer detailed technical data into WeldEye, including from Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Site Technical Schedules (STS), and engineering drawings.
- You’ll create Weld IDs and generate Work Orders — including WPCCs (Weld Process Control Cards), Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) instructions, and NDT requests.
Governance & Quality Records
- You’ll generate and issue site-specific weld process control cards aligned with project specifications.
- You’ll ensure accurate recording and feedback of all welding activities, results, and documentation.
- You’ll maintain up-to-date registers, dashboards, and work files that track welding progress and compliance.
- You’ll contribute to the completion and control of welding quality records and support site audits as required.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- You’ll work closely with Welding Engineers, QA/QC, Inspection, and Construction teams to ensure coordination across welding operations.
- You’ll assist in analysing welding/NDT data and reporting key performance indicators (KPIs).
- You’ll capture and implement lessons learned to continually improve data accuracy, compliance, and productivity.
- You’ll champion a strong Nuclear Safety Culture through proactive leadership and attention to detail.
What You’ll Bring to the Role:
Technical Skills & Experience
- You have experience working on large-scale, multi-disciplinary installation projects — ideally in a nuclear or similarly regulated EPC environment.
- You have solid understanding of welding-related activities, visual inspections, and NDT processes.
- Experience using welding management systems such as WeldEye (or equivalent) is highly desirable.
- Strong record-keeping, document management, and data entry skills.
Behaviours & Attitude
- A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a positive "can-do" approach.
- High level of accountability — you take ownership of your work and deliver to a high standard.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills — you can liaise confidently across engineering, quality, and construction teams.
- A team player who thrives in a collaborative environment and contributes positively to team culture.
What we offer:
We know that great people do great work when they’re supported, valued, and inspired. That’s why we offer:
- A competitive salary
- 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays
- The chance to work on one of the UK’s most ambitious nuclear projects
- A culture that rewards ingenuity, fosters personal growth, and celebrates success
