Role Details:
Weekly Working Hours & OT
Mon to Thursday 0700 – 1700. 40 min break.
Salary: £31.92 p/h
O/T at x1.4 Fridays and Sat < Midday, and x1.8 thereafter.
*Overtime will not come into effect until your first full working week*
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise site welding operations, ensuring safe and effective task execution.
- Deliver toolbox talks and promote safety culture, including hazard awareness and error prevention.
- Plan and allocate workloads, monitor performance, and maintain productivity across the welding team.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, carry out inspections, and manage weld documentation and traceability.
- Support investigations into weld repairs and share lessons learned through internal processes.
- Liaise with engineers and subcontractors to coordinate activities such as NDT, heat treatment, and materials supply.
- Manage consumables and equipment, including estimation, ordering, and storage.
- Handle first-line personnel issues, assessments, and reporting to senior management.
Key Requirements:
- 3 years experience as a production welder with 6 months experience in operating welding stores.
- 1 year experience as a charge hand
- Knowledge on how to use Internal Welding system
- Working knowledge / experience of TIG, MMA, FCAW, MIG and applications
- Experience of supervising in manufacturing, thermal, petrochemical and nuclear environments.
- Basic estimation and ordering of welding consumables via materials control.
- Ordering and deploying welding power sources and ancillary equipment.
- Mentoring and coaching trainees.
Qualifications:
- Full Apprenticeship in welding or NVQ 3 or equivalent in Welding
- NVQ / QCF 3 or above in Supervisory Management
- CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector
- ECITB SMTD Modules as required
- CCNSG Safety Passport or IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH Cert
