We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic technician to join our Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) team in Oxfordshire to support the delivery of our industry leading HOIS programme, responsible for developing best practice inspection guidance for the energy sector.
Responsibilities of this role may include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting the day-to-day management and running of our trial facility in Steventon,Oxfordshire.
- Assist with the benchmarking of test samples by means of careful mechanical measurements of position, depth etc, ultrasonic measurements.
- Assist with hosting of client inspection trials of NDT equipment andtechniques.
- Movementandliftingofsamplesusingpallettrucks andanelectricpalletstacker (trainingcanbeprovided)
- Packing and unpacking of specimenshipments.
- Preparation of test pieces for trials e.g. cleaning and markingup.
- Supporting the design and manufacture of bespoke test components for trials, cutting/grinding of components.
- Preparation of simple reports based on trial results.
Essential Characteristics
- 5 GCSEs Grades9-4 including Science, Maths andEnglish;
- Level 4 apprenticeship, A levels ,T levels in a relevant subject or equivalentexperience;
- An interest in Engineering andPhysics;
- Good oral and written communicationskills;
- Good numerical and ITskills;
- Attention to detail and a willingness tolearn;
- Ability to multitask ,strong organisationalskills.
Desirablecharacteristics
- Knowledge or experience of NDTmethods;
- Experience with Excel, pythonetc;
- Knowledge of the energy sector; the challenges associated with material degradation in the oil and gas, and renewables sectors;
- A full driving licence
You would be based at our Milton Park office in Oxfordshire but the role would require frequent travel to our test facility in Steventon.
You would report to a principal consultant or teamleader.
