The Opportunity
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people? Join the Kirklees Youth Engagement Service as we launch our Young Futures Prevention Pathway—a forward-thinking initiative designed to identify and support young people at risk of being drawn into crime.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of a new multi-agency partnership model, with real impact and community value. You'll work alongside professionals in Youth Justice, Health, Education, Police, Early Help, and the Voluntary Sector, forming a Prevention Partnership Panel to change young lives.
This exciting opportunity has arisen within the Youth Engagement Service. This new team will consist of Youth Engagement officers, a Coordinator/Youth Engagement Officer and analytical support. This team will be managed within the YJS and by a Youth Justice Team Manager.
This new pathway is designed to work in line with the ‘Safer Streets Mission’ and ‘the Young Futures’ ambition: ‘ Young Futures Prevention Partnerships will identify children and young people vulnerable to being drawn into crime and ensure access to appropriate support, including via Young Futures Hubs and other appropriate interventions and services .’
You’ll build trusted relationships with young people and their families to deliver tailored intervention and support. You’ll offer persistence, empathy, and practical help to guide young people away from criminal influences and toward positive futures.
What You'll Do
- Identify & assess young people vulnerable to being drawn into crime using multi-agency data.
- Coordinate interventions through a new multi-agency Prevention Partnership Panel.
- Secure consent from young people and families to build trust and act ethically.
- Deliver support plans that are bespoke, trauma-informed, and partnership-owned.
- Track outcomes and contribute to performance feedback loops that shape future delivery.
Who We're Looking For
- We’re seeking values-driven professionals who:
- Have experience working with children and families in complex circumstances.
- Are confident in multi-agency settings.
- Understand trauma-informed and child-centred practices.
- Can build relationships and foster trust with young people.
- Can work flexibly, creatively, and collaboratively.
Why Join Us?
- Be part of an innovative pilot with local and national backing.
- Work in a respected service (highlighted as good practice in the 2022 JTAI).
- Contribute to long-term crime prevention and community safety.
- Receive professional support and development within a forward-thinking team.
- Help shape a system where no young person falls through the cracks.
