The vision for the Pharmacy & Medicines service is to deliver clinically led, person-centred services to ensure patients across Lothian get the best from their medicines and pharmacy services. Two exciting opportunities have arisen for Pharmacy Support Workers Higher Level.

Post 1

Join our dedicated team within Dispensing Services at the Western General Hospital. As a valued member of our friendly and professional team, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth operation of the dispensary. Your responsibilities will include labelling and dispensing medications accurately and efficiently, maintaining stock to ensure continuity of service, assisting with the modern-day running of the department whilst playing a vital role in ensuring patients receive safe and timely access to their medication.

Post 2

Join our dedicated team within the Cancer Services Pharmacy Team at the Western General Hospital. As a valued member of our friendly and professional team, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth operation of the dispensary and aseptic preparation unit.

Your responsibilities in the dispensary will include labelling and dispensing medications accurately and efficiently, maintaining stock to ensure continuity of service, assisting with the modern-day running of the department whilst playing a vital role in ensuring patients receive safe and timely access to their medication.

In the aseptic preparation unit, your responsibilities will include assembling trays for aseptic preparation, prioritising and co-ordinating the workload, carrying out key environmental monitoring activities and maintaining stock to ensure continuity of service.

    About You

    • You must be reliable, organised and flexible. The successful candidate will be supported to undertake SCQF Level 6 qualification via an in-house competency-based Group Award accredited by Edinburgh College.
    • Prior experience within Pharmacy Services or stock management are beneficial but not essential.
    • A passion for learning and development, with a professional attitude and commitment to providing exceptional patient care.
    • Personal values aligned with NHS Lothian’s core values: quality, teamwork, care, compassion, dignity, respect, openness, honesty, and responsibility.

    This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/record.
