Abbey Preschool Manager, part time, mornings only, term time

Come to Merton and make a difference for young children. We are looking for a qualified and experienced Manager to lead Abbey Preschool. This is a part time post, 20 hours a week (mornings), term time only.

Salary ME10, full time salary £40182

Actual salary for this role £20375.43

Abbey Preschool is run by Merton Council and based in Abbey Childrens Centre, High Path, SW19 2JY. The Preschool offers 20 childcare places in total and runs mornings only during term time.

The successful candidate will

• be qualified to at least Level three in Childcare and Education (or equivalent)
• have extensive recent proven experience of working directly with young children and their parents /carers.
• have proven recent experience in a supervisory or management role in the delivery of services for young children.
• have a working understanding of the SEN Code of Practice 2014 and recent and relevant experience of supporting children with SEN.
• have an excellent knowledge of child development for children aged from birth to 5 years and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage learning and development requirements

have a sound working knowledge and understanding of observation, assessment and planning, and know how to implement and evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum being provided

have a proven working knowledge of safeguarding and health and safety, and ability to implement them within an early years setting.

have an excellent understanding of the Ofsted inspection process and experience of contributing towards self evaluation and action planning.

have highly developed communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, including the ability to use information technology systems and equipment..

have proven experience of being able to prioritise, plan and organise one's work and the work of others within conflicting demands

This role requires extensive partnership working with local families, health visitors, children centre staff and other professionals. The Preschool Manager will have responsibility for managing a small team of committed staff, and for leading the team in terms of curriculum planning. quality teaching and providing an enabling learning environment.
