Technology Account Director

Salary: £75,000 per annum, plus company benefits including a yearly bonus up to 10%

Location: Remote

Contract: Full Time, Permanent

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 9:00–17:30 (1‑hour unpaid lunch)

Work model: Fully remote with occasional client site visits

Purpose of the Role

The Technology Account Director manages strategic client relationships and supports their cloud transformation journeys. This role blends cloud expertise with partnership building, communication, and commercial awareness.

You will:

Serve as a trusted advisor, supporting clients in shaping technology strategies that enable long‑term business outcomes.

Build and maintain senior stakeholder relationships, ensuring excellent service delivery and identifying opportunities for value‑adding services.

Translate complex cloud and digital concepts into clear, actionable insights for technical and non‑technical audiences.

Collaborate with technology, delivery, and commercial teams to ensure solutions are scalable, secure, cost‑effective, and aligned with client and organisational goals.


Key Responsibilities

Translate client objectives into cloud‑aligned technology strategies.

Oversee delivery across cloud architecture, migration, modernisation, and managed services.

Identify opportunities for service expansion and support multi‑year technology roadmaps.

Work closely with technical teams to ensure solution quality, alignment, and timely execution.

Provide insight on cloud trends, cost optimisation, security, and operational excellence.

Manage risks, escalations, and communication across client and internal stakeholders.

Prepare and deliver quarterly business reviews and long‑term account plans.

Represent Williams Lea at client governance boards, presenting strategy updates, KPIs, incident reports, and financial information.

Oversee security and compliance obligations including Cyber Essentials Plus, ISMS requirements, vulnerability management, and penetration testing.

Coordinate subcontractor and multi‑party supplier performance.


Key Competencies

Ability to develop and deliver multi‑year account strategies aligned to client and commercial objectives.

Strong knowledge of cloud platforms, architectures, and modernisation techniques.

Builds effective, long‑term relationships with senior stakeholders and manages complex priorities.

Experience identifying opportunities, preparing business cases, negotiating scope, and achieving account growth.

Communicates technical topics clearly to non‑technical audiences, using data and insight to support decision‑making.

Ensures high-quality delivery through strong governance, risk management, and escalation handling.

Works effectively across global, cross‑functional teams.

Maintains awareness of emerging cloud, security, and AI trends.

Represents the organisation in formal governance settings and ensures KPI, risk, compliance, and financial reporting commitments are met.


Person Specification & Requirements

Proven experience managing enterprise technology accounts.

Strong knowledge of major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), including cloud financial management.

Ability to communicate complex technical concepts in an accessible way.

Experience leading cross‑functional teams through cloud transformation initiatives.

Skilled in negotiation, presenting information, and building stakeholder relationships.

Knowledge of security governance including Cyber Essentials Plus, ISMS or equivalent.

8+ years in account management or technology‑focused client‑facing roles.

Background in consulting, cloud solutions, or digital transformation (public sector experience advantageous).

Track record of delivering cloud programmes and achieving revenue growth.

Familiarity with formal service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL).
