Description
About The Role

Administrator – Street Lighting

Swavesey Depot | Office-based | Cambridgeshire

Are you an organised, people‑focused administrator who enjoys variety, responsibility and making a real difference day to day? We’re looking for an enthusiastic Administrator to join our Street Lighting contract, supporting a busy, high‑impact team working in partnership with Cambridgeshire County Council.

This is far more than a standard admin role. You’ll be at the heart of the operation – supporting managers, working closely with the project team, and acting as a key point of contact for the public and our client.

What you'll be doing

Working as one of two administrators on the contract, you’ll cover a wide range of responsibilities, with a focus on either Maintenance Support or Business Support, depending on the role offered. You’ll work closely with both the Asset Manager and Business Manager and play a vital role in keeping the contract running smoothly.

Your Role Will Include

  • Providing first-class customer service to members of the public via phone and email
  • Handling calls, record keeping, planning and general project administration
  • Acting as front of house for office visitors
  • Raising, monitoring and managing fault tickets
  • Supporting insurance claims where assets have been damaged
  • Maintaining accurate inventories and system records
  • Supporting managers with day‑to‑day project activities

Who we're looking for

We’re looking for someone who brings energy, accuracy and a positive attitude.

Essential

  • Experience in an office administration role
  • Confident using MS Office
  • Strong customer service skills, ideally dealing with the public
  • Highly organised, accurate and detail‑focused
  • A proactive approach with a genuine willingness to learn

  • Desirable

    • Experience with databases or mapping systems
    • Background in street lighting, highways or a similar industry
    • Experience supporting training and competence compliance

    • Smart working, giving you more flexibility such as staggered start and finish times, with up to 40% remote working, where roles allow.
