Advanced Clinical Practitioner - Paediatrics

The Paediatric ACP/Advanced Paediatric Nurse Practitioner (APNP) is a senior clinical leadership role and the post holder is expected to work across all paediatric services including inpatient ward, paediatric SDEC, ED and Outpatients. You must be competent at undertaking autonomous advanced clinical practice using assessment, decision making and diagnostic skills, including independently ordering and interpreting investigations and prescribing.

The post holder will be expected to fulfil all four pillars of the NHS England multi-professional framework for advanced practice and will be supported to do so with dedicated SPA time and management support.

• Exercise autonomous clinical expertise, high levels of judgement and decision making and utilise advanced clinical skills to ensure that children and young people receive holistic, timely and high quality care.
• Work with the family and MDT to assess, plan and implement a plan of care across all areas of paediatric services.
• Draw on expertise on the four pillars of advanced practice to lead and influence improvements to standards of care.
• Develop a culture of organisational learning to inspire future and existing staff.

Influence or lead on the improvement of care though clinical governance, service redesign, audit, quality improvement and research in collaboration with clinical and academic colleagues.

We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
