The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin welcomes applicants fromTrainee Advanced Clinical Practitioners. The service is heading into a new chapter, come and join us in 2026 and make a difference to children and young people in the area!
This is a developmental role combining clinical practice with academic study. You will be supported to work progressively towards autonomous practice, including developing skills in clinical decision-making, risk management, and, where appropriate, non-medical prescribing.
You will start in a Band 7 Trainee role and will be supported to complete a relevant master level qualification and upon successful completion progress to a Band 8a.
In the role you will provide clinical expertise at an advanced level in both physical and mental health for children and young people. You will provide expert assessment and treatment for children and young people with complex and urgent mental health needs in the community. In addition, you will provide clinical leadership alongside specialist clinical leads, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Operational and Quality leads across CRHTT and CORE mental health services.
The Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) will work within CAMHS to develop the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to practice at an advanced level. Under appropriate supervision, you will support the assessment, formulation, and treatment of children and young people presenting with complex and urgent mental health needs in the community.
The trainee will contribute to the delivery of safe, effective, and person-centred care while developing capabilities across the four pillars of advanced practice: clinical practice, leadership and management, education, and research. They will support service development and quality improvement initiatives, contributing to improved patient outcomes and experience.
