Experienced Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) wishing to take a leading role for the Care Home Collaboration across North Highland.
The Care Home Collaboration supports health and social care partnerships to ensure that those living in care homes be supported in line with the National Health and Wellbeing outcomes. NHS Highland has developed a multi disciplinary approach with a focus on support, training and assurance for the 60 care homes located in the communities of North Highland.
This post will have a degree of clinical time but it is anticipated that the role will primarily be at a whole service level rather than an individual one.
The successful candidate will be expected to work as part of a hybrid multi disciplinary service, whereby individuals from multiple professions and specialist teams are coming together to provide a cohesive service for those who manage and work within care homes, both NHS and commercially run services.
This new post would ensure the needs of care home residents are met in a joined up MDT way. A large part of the collaboration remit is training and this would greatly benefit both the care home residents and the wider SLT team.
This post would sit within the friendly and dynamic team of 12 Speech and Language Therapists based in Inverness serving the North Highland Area, and covering the full range of Adult Acquired specialisms. This post will be Line Managed by the SLT Head of Service which will ensure there is robust professional leadership and joined up working with the rest of the SLT team covering all the care home
The SLT Team has a strong commitment to Professional Development, supervision and Quality improvement.
Experience, Knowledge, And Qualifications
Extensive post graduate experience working in the clinical area of dysphagia and communication in adult acquired population is required, as well as evidence of training experience and a proven interest in working with the Care Home population.
A BSc, or equivalent, in Speech Pathology and Therapeutics, is essential, along with relevant Postgraduate qualifications/experience and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council. Registration with RCSLT is preferred. Driving licence is required

Additional Information For Candidates
Effective from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours. Part-time hours will be adjusted on a pro-rata basis. There will be an increase in the hourly rate to ensure that pay remains unaffected.
