Job Summary
We are recruiting experienced Band 5 Anaesthetic and Recovery Practitioners (Registered Nurses or Operating Department Practitioners) to join our theatres team at Kidderminster Treatment Centre.
We have one permanent position and one 12-month fixed term position available.
We are seeking practitioners with existing perioperative experience who are confident working across both anaesthetics and recovery. You will deliver safe, effective and compassionate care to patients throughout the perioperative pathway within a busy elective surgical service.
Kidderminster Treatment Centre provides a focused elective environment, offering the opportunity to work within a supportive and well-established multidisciplinary team committed to delivering high standards of patient care.
This role is ideally suited to practitioners who already have experience in anaesthetics and recovery and are able to contribute effectively within a dynamic theatre team.

Main duties of the job
As a Band 5 Anaesthetic and Recovery Practitioner, you will provide safe, effective, and compassionate perioperative care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. You will assist in the preparation and delivery of anaesthesia, working under the supervision of senior practitioners and anaesthetists, ensuring equipment, drugs, and the clinical environment are prepared and checked in line with Trust policies.
You will deliver high-quality post-anaesthetic care in the recovery area, monitoring patients physiological condition, recognising and responding to changes in their condition, and escalating concerns appropriately. You will support patients through recovery, providing reassurance and maintaining dignity and comfort at all times.
You will contribute to maintaining a safe theatre environment, adhering to infection prevention, health and safety, and safeguarding policies. Accurate documentation and effective communication with the multidisciplinary team will be essential to ensure continuity of care.
You will participate in a preceptorship and ongoing development programme, demonstrating a willingness to learn and develop skills across anaesthetics and recovery. The post holder must demonstrate the ability to work flexibly across the countywide theatres service in accordance with service demands.
