Analytics Engineer
Location: London (3 days per week in office)
Salary: £70,000 – £90,000
I’m partnering with a high-growth, independent commercial insurance organisation to hire an Analytics Engineer to take ownership of their end-to-end data platform.
The business has a strong independence culture, long-term CEO commitment, and a clear 5-year strategy to scale towards a $1bn organisation. Significant investment is being made to modernise legacy systems and build a scalable, cloud-first data capability that underpins insurer reporting and commercial decision-making.
The Role
You will be the primary technical owner of the data platform, working closely with the Data & Insights Lead and IT leadership. This is a hands-on, autonomous role with real visibility and impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and optimise the Snowflake environment (performance tuning, RBAC, cost governance)
- Build and maintain ELT/ETL workflows across Azure Data Lake and underwriting platforms
- Extract, transform and model complex commercial insurance data
Technology Environment
- Snowflake (SME-level expertise required)
- Sigma
- Azure Data Factory and Azure Data Lake
- Strong SQL focus
- Git-based version control
- ELT/ETL tools (e.g. Coalesce, dbt or similar)
Expertise for the role:
- 3+ years’ experience in data or analytics engineering
- 2+ years working with Snowflake (or similar cloud data warehouse)
- Strong SQL and data modelling expertise (star schema, SCDs, fact/dimension tables)
- Experience with ELT/ETL orchestration tools
- Comfortable working independently with full technical ownership
- Able to translate insurer reporting requirements into scalable data solutions
