Apprentice Technician – Materials testing
About The Role
As part of our annual Faculty of Engineering Apprenticeship Training Programme, we have an exciting opportunity for a Level 3 Materials Testing Technical Apprenticeship to learn the skills needed to support the operational, research and teaching requirements of the materials laboratories across the Mechanical, Materials, and Manufacturing (M3) department.
This is a great chance to embark on a technical career in Engineering, and we will support your growth by enabling you to develop the skills and knowledge needed to succeed.
You will undertake a full time 4-year Apprenticeship with practical hands-on learning provided by the university, whilst studying for a nationally accredited Level 3 qualification as a Materials Testing Technician.
In-house training will be given by our expert team in our extensively equipped workshops/laboratories covering a broad range of standard/specialised engineering processes, instrumentation, test and measurement. You’ll have the opportunity to learn a wide range of cutting-edge skills to enable the delivery of experiments, preparing specimens, configuring test equipment, interpreting data and assisting students during practical sessions.
Your academic training will be delivered over 20 months, via blended learning combining online and in-person sessions, with a recognised training provider. Successful completion means you will be eligible for Professional Registration and possibly the opportunity to continue your studies and achieve a higher-level qualification.
Qualifications to be undertaken will include:
