Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit an Assistant Finance Business Partner for a 3 month contract on a rate of up to £350/day (Inside IR35). This role will be hybrid based.
Responsibilities:
- Produce project budgets with the project managers.
- Conduct month end processing and adjustments to produce accurate project positions by month.
- Decision making on treatment of expenditure as revenue or capital.
- Produce forecasted outturns on a monthly basis by project.
- Produce finance papers for meetings.
- Engagement with colleagues
- Attendance at meetings
- Month end closedown of Assets and Depreciation
- Capital Reconciliation
- Capital Staff Workbook maintenance
- Contractors Workbook maintenance
- Monthly meetings with Project managers
- IT Maintenance - meetings and workbook review
- Timesheets – collation and analysis for capital
- Portfolio Oversight Board Paper, Project Highlight Reports for each Project, Continuous Improvement Highlight Report
Essential Skills:
- Strong stakeholder communication and engagement skills with ability to negotiate, provide constructive challenge, convey sometimes technical information to non-specialists, and foster close working relationships with teams.
- An ability to remain calm under pressure and to work at pace against changing requirements and priorities, many of these to challenging deadlines.
- Demonstrate enhanced analytical ability using a variety of tools to develop informed options and make evidenced recommendations to enable senior colleagues, directors, and ministers to make informed decisions.
- Experience of applying processes/standards to inform decisions on financial treatment and having the justification and evidence for this.
