The Opportunity

We are looking for an inspiring and empathetic Assistant Headteacher (Pastoral) to join our Senior Leadership Team from 1st September 2026.

The successful candidate will work closely with the headteacher and the wider staff team to ensure pastoral care across the school is of the highest standard. They will play a significant role in improving the school, contributing to our school development plan by leading key areas, including safeguarding, attendance and behaviour.

They will be an organised leader of pastoral systems and processes, providing impactful leadership across the school. They will be able to build strong relationships with colleagues, children and families. They will have high expectations of our children and work hard to ensure barriers to their future success are removed.

If you join us, a typical week in this role may include the following:

  • Strategically leading safeguarding in the school, working with colleagues from across the Trust, external partners and all staff within the school to promote and safeguard the welfare of children
  • Leading on the implementation of safeguarding, attendance and behaviour areas of the Ofsted framework across the school
  • Working with the Headteacher and other members of the leadership team in setting, nurturing, promoting and maintaining a high standard of behaviour, inclusion and mutual respect throughout the school
  • Working with the pastoral team, school office and class teachers to identify and act to improve childrens attendance
  • Managing the lunchtime team to ensure the behaviour curriculum based on positive relationships extends to all aspects of our childrens day
  • Demonstrating excellent classroom practice when covering for teachers PPA
  • Planning and delivering high quality staff training relating to areas of responsibility
  • Reporting to governors, the headteacher, SLT, and the Amplify Trust Executive Team on safeguarding, behaviour, attendance and other areas of responsibility
  • Being a visible presence in the school throughout the day, supporting children, colleagues and parents and carers.
