About This Opportunity

Cumberland Council Childrens Services are looking for an engaging individual to join our team as Assistant Manager at Huntley Avenue, Penrith, working with Looked After Children, enabling them to live closer to their local communities and providing them with high quality support, ensuring their voice is heard and their wellbeing is a priority.

The purpose of the home is to provide a safe, supported, and nurturing environment for young people. To provide a high-quality care experience, which enables young people to feel valued and confident, by achieving and celebrating their successes.

As an Assistant Manager, you will oversee a team of Residential Support Workers to support the smooth management of a Residential Childrens Home registered for four young people, and work in collaboration with a wide range of professionals to ensure the best support and outcomes for children and young people. This will include identifying specific areas of support, allocation of key workers and a review of service for each case managed. As well as managing caseloads, you will chair meetings between all relevant agencies as part of the service review programme.

Essential Knowledge And Qualifications Include

  • Childrens Home Regulations (2001) and amendments
  • Children Act 1989
  • National Minimum Standards
  • LSCB safeguarding policy
  • Awareness of legislation, research, and best practice in childcare and safeguarding
  • Ability to assess individual needs and create child-centred care plans
  • Social work or relevant qualification for working with children and young people
