Arden College is a specialist FE provider for autistic young people aged 1625 who have complex barriers to learning. The learning and support we provide is tailored to the individual needs, strengths, interests and aspirations of each young person. Our students are supported to design their own personalised curriculum, with the help of their family and other key people in their lives.
We are seeking an exceptional Assistant Principal to join our extended leadership and management team. The successful candidate will drive innovation and ensure quality and excellence across our curriculum. The post holder will lead on the development of our STEM curriculum so that our students are equipped to live and work in the modern world. This role is pivotal in ensuring that every student experiences a purposeful, structured, and aspirational programme tailored to their individual strengths and needs. Our students are supported in two specialist settings and the post holder will work across both however, they will be primarily based in our Southport campus.

About The Role
Reporting to the Principal /Vice Principal, the Assistant Principal will provide strategic and operational leadership across several core areas:

- Curriculum Quality & Standards
- Drive consistent, evidence-informed teaching, learning, and assessment practices.
- Support SMT with the college’s quality assurance and improvement cycle.
- Ensure curriculum pathwaysincluding vocational learning, and independence programmes- deliver measurable outcomes for all learners that link to EHCP outcomes and the intended end destination.
- Innovation in Teaching & Learning
- Champion innovative approaches tailored to autistic students, including structured teaching, sensory-informed practice, and assistive technology.
- Introduce new pedagogical strategies to enhance engagement, communication, and independence.
- Develop and implement an innovative and progressive STEM curriculum to ensure students reach their potential in the modern world of life and work.
- Senior Teacher STEM Leadership
- Provide strategic leadership for STEM subjects, ensuring ambitious and accessible provision.
We are looking for a leader who:
- Has significant experience in specialist education, particularly autism provision. A qualification, or evidence of continued learning, in autism education would be an advantage.
- Has education leadership and management experience. A leadership qualification, or evidence of continued learning in leadership and management would be an advantage.
- Have QTS and have experience teaching STEM, preferably Technology/engineering
- Is passionate about improving life outcomes for young autistic adults and a sound understanding of the potential barriers to achieving their potential.
- Has a strong understanding of curriculum development, accreditation routes and specialist pedagogy.
- Is analytical and data-informed, able to use evidence to drive strategic improvement.
- Is able to effectively use their own initiative, work collaboratively and inspire high standards across teams.
- Brings creativity, innovation, and a commitment to personalised education.
