The Department of History seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor in Early Modern British History on a full-time and indefinite basis from 1 September 2026.
You will be part of one of the largest History departments in the UK with a thriving community of teachers and researchers covering a range of disciplines and geographical areas.
About You
You will have expertise in Early Modern British History fitting in with at least one of the University of Warwick’s interdisciplinary research spotlights.
You need to be able to demonstrate how your research in Early Modern British History is fresh and exciting and complements existing University, faculty and departmental research strategies.
The thematic focus of the post is open. We would especially welcome candidates whose work engages with religious change and/or social relations.
The History department has other academic staff researching and teaching in Early Modern History and an Early Modern and Eighteenth-Century Centre as well as a range of related networks.
Applicants should indicate in their covering letter how their research expertise interfaces with existing research specialisms in the department.
There are also opportunities to develop connections and collaborations with colleagues in other departments, especially through the Centre for the Study of the Renaissance and the English Department.
We are particularly keen to see applications from backgrounds currently underrepresented in UK higher education.
