The Respiratory Physiology service provides a full range of diagnostic lung function tests and assessments for acute medicine, outpatient services, ageing & health and rehabilitation services and NHS Forth Valley direct access service.
We require a bright, enthusiastic person to join the team in Respiratory Physiology. The Clinical Physiology Assistant will support the Respiratory Physiologists performing and reporting on a range of simple breathing tests and overnight home sleep studies, perform sterilisation of equipment, and support administration staff with general clerical and administration duties (E.g. making/rearranging appointments, answering department telephone calls, maintaining the daily database).
This post holder will coordinate the physiology service for paediatrics, performing basic respiratory and sleep investigations. Applicants should be able to adapt to unpredictable workloads, and be flexible to meet the needs of the service with some weekend, evening and Public Holiday working. Willingness and flexibility to travel across the Forth Valley estate is essential to this role. Experience working in a health care environment performing spirometry would be advantageous, but full training will be provided.
The successful candidate would be expected to have or be prepared to work towards obtaining the ARTP Certificate in Spirometry and the ARTP Sleep Overnight Pulse Oximetry Certificate.
The Post Holder Should

- Have working knowledge of basic information technology.
- Be able to plan and coordinate workflow, including emergency provision.
- Have an aptitude for planning, prioritising and making fast and effective decisions.
- Have the ability to work alone, independently and unsupervised (following a period of training).
- Ability to work effectively with others as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Have effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Have some experience working with children.
- Have patient care at the heart of what you do.
There will be a requirement to complete the HCSW Induction programme and specific aspects of TURAS as required by the service. Knowledge of internal IT systems e.g. TrakCare would be advantageous and desirable but are not essential as training will be provided.
The post is permanent and is offered on a full-time basis, for those interested in part time hours or a secondment opportunity this would be considered.
