The Opportunity
We have an opportunity for an ambitious Associate Structural Engineer to play a key role in delivering across our diverse portfolio of projects while taking a senior role in supporting running our team at our Reading office.
Working on our prestigious projects you will need to manage and be able to undertake all aspects of the engineering design and financial management of the projects. You would be responsible for leading projects from concept through to completion, guiding teams, shaping design strategies, and building trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders. You’ll have the autonomy to influence technical direction, contribute to the strategic direction of the team all whilst being supported by a wider collaborative, forward thinking team. What you need to do to excel in this role
- Provide high‑level technical oversight, mentor junior engineers, and review design work to ensure quality and consistency
- Prepare detailed structural calculations in accordance with Eurocodes and relevant design guidance, and oversee the production of drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Experience leading projects and managing client relationships
- Project experience throughout the stages of the RIBA plan of work
- Familiar and empathetic with all forms of building construction and a reliable designer in structural steelwork, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber
- Possess a good working knowledge of Software such as SCIA, Tekla and TEDDS or similar
- Experience of refurbishment and change of use designs as well as new build work
- A self-starter, with a proactive mindset and motivated in delivering high quality
- Good people management skills
- Team player
- Able to work with minimal supervision but provide continual feedback
- Be personable, confident and a good communicator
