Overview:
Exciting opportunity for someone with at least 2 years’ experience in a professional environment who wants to develop a career in Wealth Management.
As part of our continuing growth plans we are looking to appoint a new Associate Portfolio Manager (APM) to work within our US Private Client team providing support in managing investment portfolios and implementing trade instructions.
This is a fantastic opportunity to develop a long term career in Wealth Management within W1M as we are focussed on developing our internal talent and see this role as perfect way to learn all the required skills and gain the necessary experience to step into a Portfolio Manager role should that be the path they choose.

Key Accountabilities
Portfolio Support, Analysis and Reporting
Conduct thorough analysis of investment portfolios, including performance attribution, risk analysis and benchmarking. Examples include:
- Preparation of regular portfolio reports providing insights on investment performance, asset allocation and commonality for review by Portfolio Managers (PM’s)
- Analysing portfolio performance against market indices, identifying areas of outperformance or underperformance and preparing comprehensive reports for review by PM’s and Advisors
- Assist in assessing all forms of Risk (Market, Credit & Operational) identifying concentrated positions and proposing mitigation measures
Investment Research & Analysis
Assist in conducting research on various asset classes, industries and specific securities. Examples include:
- Develop understanding of our investment strategy, analysing macroeconomic factors, market trends and company fundamentals
- Keep up to date of our products and outlook by reading W1M’s Macro & Market outlooks and attending weekly investment meetings
- Using Bloomberg to ensure pricing reports, bond lists, team templates and strategy models are kept up to date and accurate
- Monitoring news fees and events that could impact investment decisions and portfolios
- Active participation in team meetings, sharing research findings and taking on special projects to deepen understanding
Client Communication
- Assist in preparation of client presentations, reports and investment proposals
- Develop understanding of US/UK clients, tax implications or realising gains and compliant investing
- Ensuring all client, trade and tax data is correct and up to date
- Opening and closing of portfolio accounts
Background / Experience and Qualifications required
- Working towards completion of the Investment Management Certificate and / or CFA Level I and / or CISI accreditation
- Able to demonstrate understanding of financial instruments and how these can be applied to investment strategies
- Highly numerate and analytical
- Able to demonstrate ability to build rapport with clients and develop an understanding of their needs
- Very strong attention to detail allied to discretion in dealing with highly sensitive information
- Strong all round communication skills, in particular ability to relay complex information to wide variety of people in an effective manner
