The Vacancy
What can you expect?
We are seeking a talented Associate or Senior Associate (2–5 PQE) to join our non‑contentious Financial Regulation practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer with strong regulatory foundations to work on a broad, cross‑sectoral workload and to further develop their expertise across the full spectrum of UK financial services regulation.
The successful candidate will advise clients on complex regulatory issues affecting a wide range of financial services businesses, with exposure to both wholesale and retail markets.
Responsibilities
- Advising on non‑contentious financial regulation matters across multiple financial services sectors
- Working on matters relating to:
- Investment business (wholesale and retail)
- Banking (wholesale and retail)
- Payments
- Retail lending
- Insurance and reinsurance
- Providing advice on both prudential and conduct regulation
- Advising on the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (FSMA) framework, with a particular focus on the regulatory perimeter
- Supporting clients with regulatory structuring, authorisation, perimeter analysis and ongoing compliance issues
- Collaborating with colleagues across the wider practice and, where appropriate, supporting the contentious financial regulation side of the team
Experience and Knowledge
- Qualified solicitor with 2–5 years’ PQE
- Ideally trained at a City firm, with the majority of post‑qualification experience in Financial Regulation
- Strong grounding across the FSMA 2000 architecture, particularly the regulatory perimeter
- Experience across the full range of financial regulation is preferred, but we are also open to candidates currently specialising in a financial services sub‑sector (e.g. payments, consumer credit or similar), provided there is a genuine willingness to broaden their practice
