You will own a meaningful risk mandate across the AUD and NZD curves, provide high quality pricing and market colour to institutional clients, and drive strategic initiatives that enhance our EMEA connectivity to APAC liquidity. The role demands deep product expertise, disciplined risk management, and the ability to influence platform, client and technology outcomes across the global Rates business. You’ll join the London Rates Desk within Global Markets (Investment Bank), working closely with trading centres in APAC, EMEA and the Americas to optimise risk warehousing, align liquidity provision and deliver seamless client coverage across time zones.
Your expertise
We are hiring an AUD/NZD Swaps Trader to lead and grow our AUD/NZD rates franchise from London. You will own a meaningful risk mandate across the AUD and NZD curves, provide high quality pricing and market colour to institutional clients, and drive strategic initiatives that enhance our EMEA connectivity to APAC liquidity. The role demands deep product expertise, disciplined risk management, and the ability to influence platform, client and technology outcomes across the global Rates business. For the right candidate, it also offers a leadership platform across the broader business.
Key responsibilities
- Run and scale a complex risk book across AUD/NZD IRS and basis, actively managing curve, fly and cross currency exposures; deliver consistent P&L within the firm’s risk and conduct frameworks.
- Act as senior market maker for AUD/NZD swaps, ensuring dependable two way liquidity and best execution for a diversified client set (real money, hedge funds, bank treasuries and corporates).
- Originate and communicate trade ideas grounded in macro, microstructure and policy analysis (RBA/RBNZ), including cross market relative value with G3 and local rates.
- Strengthen the client franchise in partnership with Sales driving wallet share, deepening relationships, and supporting strategic client engagements and roadshows.
- Improve desk infrastructure by partnering with Quants/Tech/COO on pricing models, liquidity and axe analytics, e trading enablement and automation of risk/controls.
- Set standards and lead by example—mentor junior traders and analysts, embed strong risk culture, and contribute to governance forums (model reviews, limit setting, control remediation).

Your expertise
- Significant front office trading experience in interest rate derivatives, with demonstrated success in AUD and/or NZD swaps (additional G3 experience valued).
- Proven P&L and risk taking track record under meaningful VAR/Delta/Vega limits; fluency in OIS term structures, basis dynamics, repo and bond swap linkages (ACGB/NZGB).
- Strong pricing and modelling skills, comfort with scenario analysis and stress testing; proficiency with Bloomberg and desk risk/pricing tools.
- Credible client presence—able to convey views clearly, negotiate risk, and shape flows in fast markets.
- Leadership qualities: mentoring capability, ownership mindset, and effective challenge within governance and control frameworks.
- Advanced degree in a quantitative/finance field preferred; commitment to the highest standards of integrity and conduct.
